About Marlon Smith
Marlon Smith is on a mission. He earned a Bachelor of Science
degree from the University of Virginia in electrical
engineering. As a college student, Marlon's proudest moment came
when he founded Street Academics, a high school youth mentoring
program, where college students provided student leadership
development for younger students. This was the beginning of
Marlon’s youth ministry.
His corporate experience includes working at two fortune-500
corporations, IBM and Hewlett-Packard in Silicon Valley. During
his lunch breaks, Marlon went into various schools and provided
student leadership development and youth ministry programs.
On January 15, 1992, Marlon listened to his heart and
resigned from Hewlett-Packard to follow his passion of inspiring
more youth through student leadership programs.
As a keynote motivational speaker, Marlon has been blessed
with opportunities to inspire, entertain and motivate thousands
of individuals in 45 states including Alaska. And because of his
message, he has traveled abroad on numerous speaking tours
throughout the former Soviet Union (in Moscow, Gorney-Altay,
Kazakhstan), Canada, Mexico, Japan, England, the Caribbean,
Botswana, LeSotho, Ghana, Swaziland, and South Africa.
Marlon has worked in South Africa where he produced the
"Motivational Mondays" television series and the national "Success is Your Choice" radio program.
Marlon was featured in ESSENCE Magazine as one of the top
motivational speakers. His schedule is so busy that within one
particular month, he received standing ovations at leadership
conferences in England, South Africa and Washington, DC.
Marlon's youth ministry and student leadership development
also includes innovative leadership workshops and youth
mentoring programs for educators, parents and coaches.
Today, Marlon is one of the executive producers of "Real Men
Talking," the multimedia stage performance, which is currently
touring throughout the United States so more families and
communities are inspired to maximize their potential.
Marlon and his wife Syreeta are blessed with two children,
Deja and Jade. |
